The Strategic Conference's third day opened on Wednesday 28 October with Building Africa's Defence Capability: From Procurement to Sovereignty. The panel was moderated by Major General Olufemi T. Akinjobi, Strategic Advisor to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He was joined by Ambassador Emmanuel Amara Vandi Fomba, Founder and Global President of the Global Chamber on African Trade, Rights and Economic Development; Major General Tarek Abdeldatah Mohammed, Deputy Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization; and Major General Effiong Edet, Director General of Nigeria's Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre.

As AFRIDEX reported, the speakers discussed aligning procurement with strategic priorities and building lasting capability at home: strategic acquisition, industrial cooperation, technology transfer and joint production that reduce dependence on imports and grow local expertise. That is the case DICON has made since the opening day.

On the exhibition floor, AFRIDEX's focus for the day was the support behind a capability: technical training, maintenance, integration and lifecycle services. It named DICON first among the organisations visitors could talk to about this, alongside the Defence Industries Association of Nigeria and other exhibitors.
