DICON's Director General takes the Minister of State round AFRIDEX
On Day 2, Maj Gen Ibrahim Babatunde Alaya took Dr Bello Matawalle round the whole exhibition floor at Eko Atlantic.

On Tuesday 27 October, DICON's Director General, Maj Gen Ibrahim Babatunde Alaya, took the Minister of State for Defence and Chairman of the DICON Board, Dr Bello Matawalle, round the whole exhibition floor at Eko Atlantic.
The photos here come from two of the many stands they visited, both DICON joint ventures. At the DICON-Rovin Guard stand they looked at the AS47 rifle. As Military Africa reported, DICON-Rovin Guard is a joint venture between DICON and Rovin Guard Nigeria Limited, set up under an agreement signed on 30 July 2025 to expand local production of military hardware under the DICON Act 2023.
DICON-Nigus Tactical is another DICON joint venture. At AFRIDEX, Nigus Tactical Systems signed a memorandum of understanding with EM&E Group to explore a partnership on sovereign defence and industrial capability in Nigeria, with room to expand into other African markets.
Speaking to The Guardian at the show, Dr Matawalle said Nigeria now produces over 50 million rounds of ammunition a year, against a yearly requirement of over 300 million, and that many countries are coming to DICON for partnerships. By investing in the local defence industry, he said, “we are not only strengthening our national capabilities but also contributing to the broader regional effort to enhance security across Africa.”
The DICON Pavilion is open every day until Thursday 29 October.
